10 New Features Of The iOS 5

News of the upcoming iOS 5 is quickly spreading like a digital wildfire especially since the Worldwide Developers Conference early this June. At the conference Apple discussed the top 10 out of the 200 new features that the iOS 5 would bring this fall. There is a lot of speculation that Apple’s updates and improvements have taken some of the ideas from the popular jailbreak program Cydia, and also some ideas from the Android phones. To find out let’s look at the 10 features that were discussed so far:
1 ) No more cord- This new feature will come as a great relief to Apple users. No more having to hook your Apple device up to a computer to activate it and use it. Seems like a slight improvement, but in reality this will benefit a lot of people. This initial hook up to activate has been a big hassle for people who own Apple devices but lack a desktop or laptop computer.
2) Wireless In-Home Synchronization- Instead of having to hook your device up to your computer and back up your apps and music, now every time your Apple device is hooked up to a power source it will start wirelessly syncing all of your data.
3) iCloud is here- Finally cloud services have been brought to mobile devices. This new service will be great for people who have multiple computers and mobile devices and don’t want to keep downloading all their info to each device. Best of all its free!
4) iMessage- A revolutionary feature that threatens to take the messaging services from the hands of cell phone carriers and put it into a free feature included solely for the iOS 5 users. This could significantly reduce cell phone bills and make it possible for users to eliminate their messaging service completely from their bill. This feature is an excellent inclusion especially since people continuously get ripped off by texting packages.
5) Revamped lock screen- The old Apple products used to have a rather annoying lock feature. When you needed to access your camera fast and see messages fast, you had to completely unlock the phone then find the icon in your menu. Now, however, on the lock screen there is a quick button for the phone and for messages making it possible to catch almost everything on camera at the touch of a simple button.
6) iTunes 10.3- A handy update to iTunes pleases consumers. Before if you lost a song you downloaded on iTunes, or you got a new device and needed to fill it up with all of your music, you couldn’t redownload songs for free. Now, however, you can. With the iTunes features incorporated with the iCloud features you can download any of your music as many times as you want, from any iOS device.
7) Tabs in Safari- When you wanted a new webpage open you generally had to open up a whole new page and when you went back to the page it would reload making it slow and annoying. Now Apple has sped up the process by making tabs available that don’t reload unless you direct them to.
8 ) Reminder App- Due to the heavy use of reminder apps Apple finally realized that it is a necessity for most people and decided to incorporate it in their new iOS 5. The neat feature about their reminder app is that it is location specific so if you needed to pick up milk at the store while you were out when you hit the store your Apple device would alert you that you need milk.
9) Twitter- Of course with increasing popularity of Twitter, Apple decided to have a built in Twitter that lets users tweet instantly and even send photos directly to Twitter from their photos app. They can also send map details from web pages and link your contacts directly to their Twitter accounts.
10) News has arrived- for those who love to read newspapers and magazines this will be a welcome feature. Newsstand allows you to pick which magazines and newspapers you want to receive and they will update automatically. This is a slightly different version of the iBooks.
Some excellent new features coming out this fall for Apple users. The best thing about the new iOS 5 is that it will allow people with older iPhone models and iPad models to utilize it as well, rather than just shutting them out. Not everything was updated, there are still a few issues that Apple critics would have liked to see fixed with the updated OS, but nonetheless these features will be an amazing step forward for Apple users.
