Microsoft Live Mail Contacts has lots of problems

Microsoft Live Mail Contacts has good features of importing your contacts from various sources like GMail, Facebook, Hi5, etc.

However, once you are done with import, you will see many contacts with same names.
Well, it has feature to Clean Up Contacts, which will diligently show you duplicate contacts, and ask you to click to Auto-Merge them. Impressive, right?

Here comes the legacy problems with Microsoft's web applications. The merging functionality is not working for a long-long time now. When clicked on Merge, it shows pages with sorry text:

There are some more bugs and ill-placed features as well. For a person like me who wants SkyDrive's 25GB free online space and wants to connect to friends as well, there is no other option than to manage in whatever is provided by Microsoft.

Is there any alternative to this? :(

• Update: Today is 29-Jun-2011; and the problem still persists. Now my Hotmail account is linked with Microsoft Outlook 2010, which does not have contacts cleaning option. Also, I am using Windows Live Mail (Desktop Client) which has menu item for Cleaning Contact; and that eventually puts me to the same bugy Contact Manager webpage.

Microsoft Favors Advertisers Over Searchers

This is wonderful news (I think), but did it improve search at all?
For once I’d like Microsoft to come out and say we’ve made sweeping changes to our search engine indexing algorithms that will improve the results in our search engine for searchers. Everyone will benefit. Searchers will benefit by getting better results, which will lead to more people using the search engine and more people advertising in return. More advertisers will lead to more revenue for Microsoft, which will lead to more money available for use in research and development. But it looks like Microsoft has found another way to get the money for R&D. Instead of improving search they’ve decided to go the route of capitalizing on the needs of advertisers. Therefore, searchers lose; advertisers win.
This is the exact opposite of the way that Google has approached search. Of course, now that Google has secured top spot in search and PPC, it looks like their advertising policies are becoming more and more favorable toward advertisers than searchers. Good thing their advertising policies and search policies are separate. Not true of Microsoft’s policies. Another reason to stay with Google.

Undeniably, Microsoft has incredible reputation in manufacturing computers and IT industry. The Windows operating system by Microsoft is almost reining the IT industry. However, few of the other giant players such as Google has launched their Smartphone in the market and most of the mobile phone manufacturing companies have started producing Android based devices.
Microsoft has also made its presence felt in Smartphone section with its Windows Mobile phone running on windows operating system. Samsung deals with both the companies respectively, but the sale of the Android OS based Smartphone has increased tremendously, which has made the producer increase the production of phone running on this operating system.

Samsung has also been accused of misusing the patent rights, in order to get a grip on bigger market shares. 

What are the factors and facts behind Microsoft’s BIG decision to charge Samsung ?

• Most of the people believe that Microsoft has wrongly filed a lawsuit against Samsung and used the advantage of being the most reputed company in the industry. People also think that the main reason behind charging a huge amount of royalty fee on each mobile phone is only to get back at the rival company.
• There is another partners of Microsoft such as HTC, who only pay 5 $ as the royalty charge.
• Few market experts argue that Samsung is only manufacturing the android based Smartphone to meet high volume of public demand. However, Microsoft has a valid reason to charge them with the royalty fee or have Samsung completely stop the manufacturing of android be smart phones.
